| Surrounded by a wealth of extravagant Victorian memorials, the pre-conquest foundation of Brawdy Church is situated at the end of a lane close to the military airfield. Though restored, the present structure is basically medieval with nave, chancel, sanctus bellcote and the corbels and the remains of steps leading up to the roof still in evidence. The present south aisle includes a vestry and the Rice family chapel. Originally, this was rebuilt out of an early squinch arch leading round the side of the chancel opening. The porch houses three fifth to sixth century memorial stones dedicated to the early Christians of the neighbourhood and gathered to the church from around the parish. | |||||
