| A decayed medieval borough, which retains its magnificent castle, church, hospital and much more. The castle was one of the residences of the Bishops of St Davids who | ||||
| transformed the building from a defensive structure to a grand manor house. The present church on the banks of the Eastern Cleddau River is fourteenth century rebuild to an earlier structure where old and new have been cleverly incorporated. The original foundation is Celtic. The primitive carving on the pillar capitals can be encountered here and elsewhere on the trail. Above, in the village, stands a vaulted building - the only remains of a hospital founded by Bishop Beck. Information panels in the ysbyty and outside interpret the site for visitors and a playground is provided for youngsters. | ||||
