A huge collapsed cromlech can be seen at Garn Turne Rocks
between St Dogwells and Little Newcastle, which like the more recent stone at the roadside, marks the limits of the ancient hundreds of Dewisland, Cemaes and Daugleddy. The village green in Little Newcastle represents the flattened remains of the twelfth century motte. On the north side of the green a stone commemorates Black Bart, the pirate born here in 1682; whilst on the south side stands St Peter's Church. Of Celtic origin, the double aisled medieval structure finally disappeared in the 1870s during a further restoration of its fabric. The present building is noteworthy for its fine modern stained glass windows.
